Recorded in the wake of the drug overdose deaths of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and Young's friend and roadie Bruce Berry, the album is filled with an unshakable emotional intensity. The music is unhinged and aggressive with Young's lyrics preoccupied by death and disaster. It's a powerful statement from an artist that could have easily glided along on the smooth sounds of his earlier releases. Twelve tracks in all.
